If
you need to convert your ring size to a different sizing system
If
you know your ring size in one of the systems, just look it up in the ring
size chart and find the corresponding ring size in a different system.
If
you don't know your ring size
The
easiest way to find out your ring size is to measure the circumference of
your finger and then find the corresponding size using the ring size chart.
To measure the circumference, wrap a ribbon or a string once around your finger.
Then measure length of the portion that went around the finger - that is the
circumference of your finger.
Remember
that the ring will have to go past your knuckle so allow a bit of leeway.
Also, make sure that you do not wrap the string or ribbon too tightly - rings
are hard to enjoy when they cut off your blood circulation!
To
find out your girlfriend's/wife's ring size
That
romantic valentine's day gift works best as a surprise and asking "what's
your ring size, dear?" may be a bit of a giveaway. So here are some hints
for finding out her ring size without spoiling the surprise:
-
If
she has a few rings that she does not always wear or takes off rings for
shower etc - take a ring and measure its diameter. Then use the ring size
chart to arrive at the size.
-
Put
one of her rings on your finger, mark the spot where it fits, then use
the ribbon or string to measure the circumference at that point.
-
If
she is not likely to notice, take one of her rings to a jewellery store
and ask for the size (you might have to deal with a salesperson trying
to sell you half the rings in the store, though).
-
If
she is a deep sleeper - use the string or ribbon to measure her finger
while she is sleeping.
-
If
she has a friend, sister, mother, etc who you can trust to keep a secret
- ask them.
